# Dipper

> Dipper is a web search and page fetch API for AI agents, available over REST and as a remote MCP server. Results are kept in a cache shared by all customers, and a call answered from the cache costs less than one that goes upstream.

## Endpoints

- Base URL: https://dipper-search.com
- `POST /v1/search`: web search. Body `{"query": "...", "max_results": 10, "include_content": false, "refresh": false}`. The query supports `site:`, `-site:`, `lang:`, `after:` and `before:`.
- `POST /v1/fetch`: returns a page's main content as Markdown. Body `{"url": "https://...", "refresh": false}`.
- `GET /v1/account/balance` and `GET /v1/account/usage?days=N`: account balance and usage.
- Auth: `Authorization: Bearer dk-...` (or `x-api-key`). Get a key by signing in with GitHub at https://dipper-search.com/login/.
- Every search and fetch response has `x-dipper-cache` (HIT, MISS, REFRESH, NONE) and `x-dipper-cost-usd` headers.
- Set `refresh: true` to skip the cache and get a live result. Cached results can be older than a live search.

## MCP

- `https://dipper-search.com/mcp`: streamable HTTP, needs `Authorization: Bearer dk-...`. Tools: `web_search`, `web_fetch`.
- `https://dipper-search.com/mcp/free`: no key needed, same tools, with a small hourly budget shared by everyone. `refresh` is not available there.

## Pricing

- $0.80 per 1,000 uncached calls, $0.32 per 1,000 cached calls. Launch offer: cached calls are $0.16 per 1,000 until 31 December 2026 (UTC+8).
- Search and fetch cost the same. Empty results and errors are free. `max_results` and `include_content` do not change the price.
- Prepaid balance, no subscription. Top up by card in the dashboard, $10 to $1,000 at a time.
- Free credit when you sign in with GitHub, no card: 1,000 requests for GitHub accounts older than 30 days, 300 for newer ones.
